Geology The cavity develops within the limestones of the formation of the Red Ammonitico Veronese (Jurassic - 160/145 million years ago). The cave length on the dorsal surface of the Horn of Aquila and along the eastern side, consists of limestones of marine origin, fine-grained, nodular, red brick, pink and white, rich in ammonium (Dimorphinites, cadomites, oxycerites, procerites), Belemnite and stromatolites. The limestones of the red Ammonitico reach a maximum thickness of about 25 meters. Route of access La grotta del Ciabattino si trova a soli 200 metri a sud-ovest dall'ingresso della famosa Spluga della Preta. Si raggiunge a piedi in circa due ore, attraverso il sentiero che da Fosse porta alla cima del Corno d'Aquilio. E' una cavità visitabile da chiunque sia in possesso di una semplice torcia, in quanto la cavità è di limitata estensione e di andamento orizzontale. Davanti all'ingresso troverete un pannello didattico curato dall'Ente del Parco Naturale dei Lessini.
