Geology The weapon of the Grai opens in the massive fortress of Bears, which is the offshoot East Tanaro first incision, a band of limestone soils in which they represent all the terms, commonly found in the area, the average Trias Eocene. In this area the tectonic ductile and later that fragile, have heavily distorted the original stratigraphic succession. A series of doublings plicativi, especially of the lithotypes most plastic and the elision of some terms, are made more complicated the structural framework of the area. Many of the massive cavity, like the one in question, open on the limestones of the Malm ceroid, which generally are the most eroded. Route of access Among Ormea Garessio and you reach for Eca road. From here one port to the nearby village of Giorea and then take the path that climbs obliquely towards NE. Shortly after the wake of the valley Caranci, at an altitude of 1080 meters, leaving it down eastwards for a modestra trace the path that leads to the cave. The entrance (hidden behind a grove of trees) consists of a large door at the base of a rocky step (30 minutes from ECA). Description Entrance corridor follows a downhill, set to come in layers, first on stone, then up concretions. Leaving a branch of 50 meters left, there is 20 feet high on a wall in a hall that has a diameter of about twenty feet to a height of 30. It follows, then, through a narrow passage, you enter a room where they were found bones of Ursus and herbivores.
From this point begins, left, a tunnel uphill eighty yards long, which ends on concretions. To the right is a corridor down, a jump of a few meters and a room that leads to the terminal gradioso hall 70 meters long and 40 high. The bottom of this saloon is a pond fed by dripping water. From the back of the hall by climbing, it reaches 20 meters in height, a horizontal tunnel from the bottom clay, where it was found the skeleton of a felid.
